Ant and Dec have reached out to fans to get involved from home, after Saturday Night Takeaway axed the live studio audience.

ITV bosses confirmed the crowd would not be in attendance over safety fears, as coronavirus continues to spread across the world.

But the presenters have found a novel way of getting viewers to participate – by getting us all to send in videos instead.

Taking to Twitter, they told followers: ‘#SaturdayNightTakeaway NEEDS YOU!

‘We have no studio audience this week so we want YOU, the audience at home, to be the stars of the #EndOfTheShowShow…..

‘Film (in landscape) yourself, your family, your pets, whatever, dancing along to @ollymurs Dance With Me Tonight at home, for at least 1 min…..then SUBMIT it to us.

‘And you could end up as part of a brilliant EOTSS! See you (and yourself!) on the telly!!’

Well, that’s all the encouragement we need to whack out some of our best dance moves…

Fans quickly obliged, rushing to thank the pair for keeping this weekend’s show going.

‘This is going to be amazing boys, thank you for still doing the show, I love this show so much xxx,’ a Twitter user posted.

‘Great idea – just the positivity we all need,’ another commented.

‘I think you two are amazing for still going ahead with your show,’ one said. ‘To have some normality on our screens is what we need and I just want to thank you for continuing to keep us entertained.

‘We love you. Hope you both continue to keep safe and in good health xx.’

We couldn’t agree more.

However, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway won’t be a ‘normal’ episode following the coronavirus outbreak – which has led to more than 100 deaths in the UK.

An ITV spokesperson told Variety: ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway will go ahead this weekend without a studio audience. Our priority is safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved.

‘The show will be made with a reduced production crew and in accordance with the latest guidance from Public Health England.

‘The team are looking forward to bringing our viewers a brilliant show on Saturday evening.’

Despite being a ‘reduced’ show, Ant and Dec are still rehearsing as normal – but just over video chat.

Sharing a snap from their impromptu meeting, they told fans: ‘A quick hello from a very different #SaturdayNightTakeaway script meeting!

‘We’ll massively miss our studio audience but the show will go on this weekend.

‘Stay safe everyone, we’ll see you on the telly this Saturday.’

Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway airs on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1.
