Anneka Rice: 'That's annoying' Strictly star can't hide frustration backstage with Kevin

Anneka Rice, 61, and Kevin Clifton, 36, found themselves bottom of the leaderboard in Movie Week this weekend after failing to impress the judges with their Kill Bill-themed Charleston.

The Treasure Island favourite certainly looked the part in tight-fitting black trousers with a yellow stripe down the side and a bright yellow jacket as she channelled her inner Uma Thurman.

Despite doing her best with the frantic tempo of The 5.6.7.8s’ Woo Hoo, even getting to grips with some swords to add some panache to the routine, Strictly Come Dancing 2019 star Anneka struggled to win the panel over.

The pair scored a measly 11 points, a drop from last weekend’s 19 for their Waltz.

Heading backstage after their performance, Anneka was visibly frustrated with the comments and reception,

“It’s a bit disappointing because, honestly, I’ve had blood all over my limbs and I am bruised and I’m bruised all round,” she told cameras behind-the-scenes.

In a clip which was shared with Strictly’s 775,000 Instagram followers the presenter looked demoralised as she spoke about how much blood, sweat and tears had gone into training this week.

“We didn’t half work for it this week,” Kevin laughed slightly bitterly.

“I mean, that’s the annoying thing,” she chimed in. “We put quite a lot of work into that — hours!”

“Well, I am proud of you and what you did and all the work you put in,” her professional dance partner consoled.

“At least you are,” she said glumly.

“My sons will be gutted…”

The judges didn’t pull any punches when it came to critiquing Anneka’s dance last night, with Shirley Balls, 59, struggling to compose herself from a fit of giggles in order to deliver her verdict.

“We had lots of moves in that,” Anneka told the judge indignantly. “I had 11-and-a-half moves!”

“You handle the props well and you coped with the speed,” Shirley said, starting with the positives. “It was a little bit frenetic for me.

Also seeming to find the performance funny, Bruno Tonioli, 63, laughed: “That god for your optimism, Kevin.

“You got the brief wrong,” he told Anneka. “It was supposed to be Kill Bill and you did Slaughter the Charleston.”

The crowd booed Bruno loudly, as he exclaimed: “I’m sorry, that’s what it looked like!”

Craig Revel Horwood, 54, meanwhile, said the performance was “not very good at all”, telling the Kevin and Anneka: “It was stopping and starting like a bad internet connection.”

“Really?!” Anneka interrupted, sounding genuinely shocked and slightly hurt by his comment.

Tonight, the two couples with the lowest score once the judges marks are combined with the public vote will have to compete in the dance off in a bid to keep their place in the competition.

The Strictly Come Dancing results show airs tonight at 7.15pm on BBC One.
