Anneka Rice: Strictly Come Dancing 2019 star gives health update after 'bad accident'

Anneka Rice, 60, who recently revealed she was struggling with an injury after a “bad accident”, told her 2,600 Instagram followers her Strictly Come Dancing 2019 journey was back on track after receiving treatment. “Whoop whoop!” she said, clearly in a celebratory mood. “Steroid injection in my injured shoulder. Haven’t been able to lift my right arm for weeks! Pain free at last!” she exclaimed.

“Let the fitness training commence,” she continued, adding: “Bit late I know but I like jeopardy and a deadline!”

Anneka Rice previously said she had hurt her shoulder after a fall.

“I fell badly on a very wet grassy slope,” she told The Sun. “It’s getting better but it’s meant I haven’t been able to do the ‘all-singing, all-dancing’.

“It’s slightly holding me back,” the Challenge Anneka star admitted.

“I told Strictly bosses, ‘You do realise I won’t be able to do one of these steps.’”

Anneka said she had been undergoing physiotherapy for the past six weeks in a bid to be back to fighting fitness by the Strictly launch show.

Thankfully, it appears her injured shoulder is improving after having a steroid shot injected.

Elsewhere, the Strictly hopeful also said she had been asked to sign u to the much-loved BBC show before but had always said no “straight away”.

She told the publication: “If I can’t get one of these lovely professionals to teach me how to dance, then nothing will.”

Meanwhile, bookies have odds on Anneka to be partnered up with Strictly veteran Anton Du Beke, 53.

Coral have Anneka at 5/4 to be paired with the last remaining member of Strictly’s original professional line-up.

The TV presenter was seen strutting her stuff in the Strictly sequins for the very first time earlier this week.

The celebrities, judges and hosts all came together for the red carpet launch, with Anneka Rice putting on a very leggy display in a short dress for the occasion.

Posing for pictures at the glitzy event, she paraded her slender figure in the ombre number, which featured eye-catching beaded fringing all over.

Getting in to the swing of the Strictly glamour, she spotted a polished makeup look, complete with shiny pink lipstick and sultry smokey eyes.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 launches Saturday September 7 at 7.40pm on BBC One.
