Anne Hegerty: ‘Keep your ears open’ The Chase quizzer confirms new show with Mark Labbett

Anne Hegerty responded to a message from a Twitter user who thanked her and The Chase co-star Mark Labbett for taking pictures with him whilst at Edinburgh Zoo.

The person caught the quizzers from The Chase at the location, where he said he got told they were filming a show about chimpanzees and sign language.

Anne responded to the tweet, seemingly appearing to confirm the news but said they can’t spill anything else just yet.

The fan tagged the two quizzers and said: “@MarkLabbett @anne_hegerty thanks for the pic today at #edinburghzoo today. I was told your there filming for a show about chimpanzees and sign language. Have u got any info on the show ????”(sic)

Anne cryptically replied: “Nothing we can tell you at the moment! But keep your ears open!”

The eager fan said: “Anytime this year or next ????”

“Certainly not this year,” Anne responded. “TV isn’t made that fast.”

Earlier in the week, the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant hit back at a social media user who declared they would be “boycotting” The Chase.

Anne called the person “pathetic” as they claimed host, Bradley Walsh, “slowed” contestants’ questions down in the final round of the quiz show.

The Twitter user fumed: “#TheChase needs taking off @ITV. Bradley Walsh slows the contestants questions in the final chase is so pathetic.”

They added: “I started a boycott. We are all going down to the ITV studios to get it taking off air the show is a fix.”

The Chaser was quick to reply to the viewer and asked: “Good luck with that. Which ITV studios are you planning on going to?”

The person in question replied: “Do I not get an A,B,C or D option?”

The quizmaster fired back: “Presumably you’re going to march on the ITV studios where it’s actually filmed, right? Not much point in a protest march going to the wrong place. So I just wondered if you knew where it was.”

But the Twitter user was not letting go, as they suggested Anne provide options and “play the game”.

They said: “You have not given me an A B C or D option. Come on play the game.”

Yesterday, Anne’s co-star, Jenny Ryan, known as The Vixen, revealed a Twitter user has the first person to notice her “habit”.

Jenny, who has been a part of The Chase since 2015, received a tweet from a fan who asked the star whether she was “superstitious” as she always touches the buttons in a certain way.

They wrote to The Vixen: “Anyone else notice that whenever @jenlion is the chaser, she always touches all the buttons of the keypad when she goes head to head with the contestants. Is that a superstitious thing? #The Chase.”

Jenny appeared delighted someone had picked up on her trait, and replied: “You’re the first person to notice this! It’s just a habit now x.”

The Chase airs today on ITV from 5pm.
