Anne Heche’s death has been ruled an accident by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.

The Donnie Brasco actress died on Friday at the age of 53, following a car crash.

Her blue Mini Cooper smashed into a residential building and burst into flames, leaving her trapped inside – before firefighters were eventually able to free her.

She suffered a severe brain injury, lung damage and burns, and was put into a coma, with her family later confirming that she had been taken off life support after being declared dead.

People reports that the coroner listed her death as an accident and that a ‘sternal fracture due to blunt trauma’ was another ‘significant condition.’

Heche was declared legally dead on Friday, a week after the horror crash in LA, with her rep confirming the news in a statement.

‘We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend,’ it read.

‘Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy.

‘Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.’

Her loved ones waited until she had received organ donor matches before turning off her life support, with her spokesperson announcing on Sunday that a match had been identified.

They added: ‘Anne Heche has been peacefully taken off life support.’
