ANNA goes deep with a ten track selection of ambient music

ANNA has enjoyed huge success over the last few years.

Before the virus took hold she could be found lining up alongside the techno elite on many of the biggest stages in the world.

Like all of the best artists, the Brazilian-born DJ comes from a long legacy in the game, honing her skills in her father’s nightclub in the countryside outside São Paulo from the tender age of 14.

Fast forward to today her productions continue to single her out as one of the most exciting techno talents to emerge in recent times, dropping tracks on many of the best tastemaker labels around one a regular basis.

During lockdown she has kept herself busy. Last weekend she was back alongside an array of heavy hitters for the J2v virtual festival and on Saturday July 25 she will again take to the digital ether when she plays the much anticipated  Tomorrowland Around The World digital festival alongside the likes of Adam Beyer and Charlotte de Witte.

Her seductive brand of heavy-hitting techno is only part of her story however, and being stuck at home has allowed her to indulge another side to her musical passion which she has exclusively shared with us in the playlist she has compiled below. She told us:

“During the lockdown a project that I really wanted to do finally came alive. It is a music label for ambient, healing, meditation music combined with an event where we will host talks, teachings, healing sessions, group meditations. My intention is to create a community where we can share information and help each other to have more awareness and expand consciousness. It is called Portable Paradise and I will be talking more about this from now on.

And the pillar of the project is music, vibration. I myself use music as a tool to change consciousness and not just for a trivial listening experience, I think it can go much deeper than that. So I picked 10 ambient tracks that I feel have the power to raise my vibration and put me in a contemplative and grateful state.”

Nilhs Frahm  – Them

I love Nils Frahm sweetness and piano has a great healing effect.

East Forest – Old Ways

East Forest is one of my favourite artists. His music touches me deeply. Old Ways is part of his Music For Mushrooms album. That was create with the intent to be used as a guide for psychedelic practitioners.

Deva Premal – Om Mani Padme Hum

I love chanting, it is one of my practices I use to go into deep states of consciousness. Deva Premal has an album called “Healing Mantras” where she chants the some of the most used mantras. Om Mani Padme Hum is a mantra I use a lot in my meditations and it is the mantra of Compassion.

Jon Hopkins – 1/2 Singing Bowl

I have been using this track from Jon Hopkins in some of my meditations. I use it in the beginning and it takes me into a journey!

Hania Rani – Esja

I discovered Hania recently and fell in love, this is my favourite from her.

Olafur Arnalds – Saman

I could do a top 10 just with Olafur tracks, I am a big fan! This is one of my favourites! It has a calming effect on me.

Gigi Masin – Clouds

Another one that puts me in a deep contemplative and grateful state.

Aphex Twin – Aisatsana 102

I love the piano, ambient stuff from Aphex Twin. Another one that I really like is Avril 14th.

Near The Parenthesis – Modernisme

Part of” Léixample” album, one of the albums I have listened the most in my life.

Ram Dass & Boreta  – Imagine

And to finish, I picked this guided meditation from Ram Das combined with music from Boreta. I love this meditation and I hope it will be useful for the ones who try it too!
