‘Animal abuser killed stranger’s dog for chasing his car’

An alleged animal abuser has been accused of shooting a dog dead after it chased his car when he drove past the owner’s house.

James Franklin, 26, is said to have admitted to killing the dog in West Monroe, Louisiana, and has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty and illegal Use of weapons or dangerous instruments.

According to the arrest reports, Franklin drove by the dog owner’s home and was chased by his. Franklin then drove back by the home a few minutes later and the dog chased again, police said.

After the suspect passed the home for a second time, he allegedly shot at the dog three times, with one bullet hitting the dog, reports BR Proud.

The arresting deputy noted that Franklin was on the road and the dog was on the opposite side of the road. The police added that the angle that Franklin would have been shooting at meant he shot towards the victim’s home.

Franklin admitted to shooting the dog when being interviewed by law enforcement.

Franklin is being held at Ouachita Correctional Center on the two charges.
