Angelina Jolie thinks the world needs ‘more wicked women’ as she radiates glam in new shoot

Angelina Jolie reckons the world needs more ‘wicked women’ – and we couldn’t agree more.

The 44-year-old has given her definition of ‘wicked women’ in an interview with Elle magazine – accompanied by a gorgeous photo shoot – and she is tired of outspoken women with opinions of their own being demoted in society.

Speaking in the September issue of Elle, the Maleficent actress said: ‘Looking across the world, we have to ask, Why is so much energy expended to keep women in a secondary position? Looked at in this light, “wicked women” are just women who are tired of injustice and abuse.

‘Women who refuse to follow rules and codes they don’t believe are best for themselves or their families. Women who won’t give up on their voice and rights, even at the risk of death or imprisonment or rejection by their families and communities. If that is wickedness, then the world needs more wicked women.’

Preach!

Angelina also discussed the lesson she’s instilling in her daughters Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13 and Vivienne, 11, and she wants the girls to be as outspoken as she is.

The star – who is also mum to Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, and Vivienne’s twin brother Knox – said: ‘I often tell my daughters that the most important thing they can do is to develop their minds. You can always put on a pretty dress, but it doesn’t matter what you wear on the outside if your mind isn’t strong.

‘There is nothing more attractive—you might even say enchanting—than a woman with an independent will and her own opinions.’

Angelina’s latest interview is accompanied by a photo shoot with two dogs, and we have never looked so glam while pet-sitting.

One amazing picture sees the Oscar winner reading the newspaper while wearing a silk robe and a statement red lip, while the pooches also chill out on the bed.

We’d never let our dogs near a Louis Vuitton handbag, but perhaps Angelina is a great trainer.

And another pic from the shoot sees Angelina playing with the digs while wearing a dark gown with a cap-sleeved top.

Angelina will be back on the big screen this year after a two-year absence in the Disney sequel Maleficent: The Mistress of Evil.

But we then have a whole lot to look forward to, as the Girl, Interrupted actress has joined the MCU.

At Comic Con last month, Angelina was confirmed to play Thena in The Eternals, joining the cast alongside Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani and Salma Hayek.

The September issue of ELLE UK is on sale from Thursday 8 August 2019.
