Angelina Jolie will be back to her Tomb Raider best in Marvel’s upcoming movie The Eternals, and no one is more excited for the actress’ new role than her own children.
It was announced at Comic-Con in San Diego earlier this month that Angelina, 43, will be making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in The Eternals, which boasts a star-studded cast of Salma Hayek and Richard Madden.
The Eternals will see Angelina star as Thena, a superhuman with superhuman strength, speed, stamina, reflexes and durability.
Angelina’s six children, Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, are thrilled about their mum joining the MCU but more importantly that she’s playing a ‘strong’ character.
Discussing her exciting new character with People, Angelina said: ‘What’s really moving to me is that they want to see me strong, and so it’s less to see me in a film, but they’re just happy I will be strong and having fun.’
Since landing the fierce role, Angelina has been hard at work training with ‘everything from swords to ballet’, which has no doubt put the actress through her paces.
Teasing what fans can expect from Thena, Angelina revealed: ‘She’s a warrior. I’m going to have to work very hard to give the Marvel Cinematic Universe the Thena they deserve.’
The Eternals will throw the MCU way back in time as it is set a million years ago, so it’s expected to have a completely different look to the Avengers blockbuster epics.
It’s expected to fill in all the gaps of what went down before we met superheroes like Captain American, Iron Man and Black Widow but producers are remaining tight-lipped on the exact storyline considering it’s still early days.
Angelina has been spotted spending quality time with her children in recent weeks, including taking a shopping trip with Vivienne’s adorable new pet bunny in tow.
The Eternals is scheduled for release on 6 November 2020.
