Angel Has Fallen release date, cast, trailer, plot – Everything we know

After London Has Fallen, fans were left hopeful as Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) was at home with his family watching a triumphant message from the new President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman). But in the third movie in the Fallen series, fans are set for a shocking journey when Banning is forced to deal with being framed for an assassination attempt on the president. Fans will be on the edge of their seats as Banning is forced to turn to unlikely allies to clear his name – but when does the film come out in cinemas?

When is Angel Has Fallen released in UK cinemas?

Angel Has Fallen will be available to see in cinemas in the UK on August 21.

The film will then come out a week later in the USA, with the release set for August 29 for American fans.

Who is the cast of Angel Has Fallen?

Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman will return to their roles as Banning and President Trumbull.

Sadly Aaron Eckhart, who played former president Benjamin Asher in the first two films, and Radha Mitchell, who played Banning’s wife Leah, will not be returning to the franchise for a hatrick.

Coyote Ugly actress Piper Perabo will take over the role of Leah in this film, and is joined by Fallen franchise newcomers Jada Pinkett Smith as FBI Agent Helen Thompson, Nick Nolte as Banning’s father, Clay, and Lance Roddick as the director of the Secret Service.

Other new additions to the cast include Danny Huston, Michael Landes, Tim Blake Nelson and Mark Arnold, all in roles linked to the White House and its various intelligence agencies.

Mindhunter star Holt McCallany was set to join the cast in Danny Huston’s role of Wade Jennings, an ex-military man-turned head of a tech company, but his commitments to the Netflix show forced him to drop out.

What is the plot of Angel Has Fallen?

The film begins just after London Has Fallen, with Banning discovering he has been framed for an assassination attempt on the new president.

While being hunted by his own agency, the FBI and the CIA, he must try and stop the real threat to the president while turning to unlikely acquaintances to clear his name.

Is there a trailer for Angel Has Fallen?

Yes! There is not only one, but two trailers which have been released to whet the appetites of fans.

Each show Banning desperate to evade his captors and clear his name – but will he be able to do it?

Angel Has Fallen is released in cinemas on August 21
