Will Andy Whyment leave Coronation Street after I’m A Celebrity stint?

In previous years, I’m A Celebrity has often been a platform for stars to go on to exciting career opportunities.

This was the case for runner-up last year Emily Atack who landed a job presenting the spin-off show this year.

However, there have been no reports Whyment is planning to follow in the same footsteps.

The Sun reported back in November the star had just signed a new £125,000-a-year contract for the soap.

He has even won many awards for his time on the soap.

This includes the 2003 Best Comedy Performance at the British Soap Awards.

Fans will be looking forward to seeing him return to the series for some more storylines in the new year.

Whyment was the runner-up in this year’s I’m A Celebrity to former EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa.

On Sunday’s (December 8) final, the pair sat down for a joint interview to reflect on their time in the jungle.

He told presenters Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly how honoured he was to have been in the show and how much he was looking forward to reuniting with his family.

He said: “Honestly I’m getting emotional again just hearing about Nic [wife Nicola Willis] and the kids.

“You know how much a fan I am of this show and to get to the final. It was a lot harder than I thought.

“It’s when you watch at home you only see an hour you don’t see how much work goes into keeping the camp running when there’s 12 of you in there.”

The Corrie star was recently reunited with his family in Australia as he and his fellow contestants celebrated the end of the 2019 competition.

The stars of the 2019 show have been toasting the end with a wrap party before they head back to the UK.

I’m A Celebrity is available to catch-up on the ITV Hub.
