Andreas Pereira has issued a defiant response to a Manchester United supporter who urged him to leave Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season and now faces increased competition for a place following the signing of Bruno Fernandes.

Pereira has received strong criticism from United fans over his performances this season.

But after one supporter ordered him to ‘find a new club’ in a comment on his official Instagram page, Pereira replied: ‘I will stay and fight for my place. My place is at Manchester United.’

Pereira is also under fire after a video circulated on social media caught him messing around in training with Jesse Lingard.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer admits United will continue to ‘suffer’ if they miss out on a Champions League place this season.

‘We’re a big club, we’ve got good finances,’ said the United manager.

‘But of course the longer you’re out the more you suffer, so of course it’s an ambition for us to get back into the Champions League, both for the footballing reasons and financially that will help the club.

‘We’ve just got to focus on the next game, this competition now, then it’s the league on Sunday, then it’s the FA Cup on Thursday, then it’s the league again and hopefully more European games.’
