Andrea McLean revealed her mum had actually smoked all the way through her pregnancy when she was pregnant with her back in the late 60s.

The Loose Women star had been hosting a discussion around vaping, and how it is becoming more popular than smoking, during Monday’s show and told her co-stars that she was put in an incubator for a week after being born.

Andrea likened the new hype around vaping to smoking back in the day, when smoking was the norm and nobody was really aware of the side effects it could have.

She said her mum didn’t stop smoking when she fell pregnant because she ‘didn’t know any better’.

‘My mum smoked all the way through her pregnancy with me,’ Andrea revealed. ‘I was 4lbs 11 and in an incubator for a week.’

‘Back then, we thought there was nothing wrong with it, the same way people are thinking about vaping these days. Nobody knew any better.’

Coleen Nolan – who recently admitted that she hasn’t had sex in three years – revealed that she tried vaping as an alternative to smoking, but was left a little overwhelmed by all the decisions that came with setting herself up with a vape.

‘I decided to try vaping and I went into one of these shops in the high street, hour and a half I was in there, spent an hour picking which thing I was gonna choose and another half hour for the flavour,’ she joked.

Coleen, who said the new trend ‘baffles’ her, revealed her daughter Ciara – who has never been a fan of smoking – will join in with her friends who vape.

‘Ciara has some of her friends round, I would say the majority – who as far as I know never smoked – are all vaping.

‘Ciara hated [smoking], she gets angry at me, you all know I smoke, but [with vaping] she’ll go, “Give us a go.”

‘They just think there is absolutely no risk and they all say it’s much better than smoking… I think it’s really scary, we’ve still got a lot to learn.’

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
