Anderson Cooper likens Trump to ‘obese turtle on back flailing in the hot sun’

After a rambling and unhinged statement from Donald Trump the White House briefing room, CNN’s Anderson Cooper seized his chance with a hilarious metaphor.

The President made baseless claims of widespread voter fraud as his path to reelection continues to narrow with votes still being counted in battleground states.

Trump claims that Democrats are trying to ‘steal’ the election. He offered no evidence.

CNN was one of the few major news networks in the US to carry the whole statement live, others chose to cutaway as it became clear it would simply be more disinformation from the Republican leader.

Donald Trump is attempting to undermine the election result

Immediately after the short press conference, Cooper said the examples of fraud offered by the president – papers on windows and things he’s seen on the internet – were not “actual evidence”.

“I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like this from the president of the United States and I think, as Jake (Tapper) said, it’s sad and it is truly pathetic and, of course, it’ll go through the courts, but you’ll notice the president did not have any evidence presented at all, nothing, no real actual evidence of any kind of fraud,” Mr Cooper said.

“That is the president of the United States, that is the most powerful person in the world and we see him like an obese turtle on his back, flailing in the hot sun realising his time is over.

Anderson Cooper was thoroughly unimpressed by Trump’s remarks

“But he just hasn’t accepted it and he wants to take everyone down with him, including this country.”

Joe Biden is edging closer to 270 electoral votes and victory although recounts are likely in the states of Wisconsin and Georgia – even though the latter result is yet to return.

Trump held a press briefing to say he “easily” won if not for the allegedly illegal votes being counted after Election Day.

Donald Trump used the White House briefing room to tell lies and untruths about the US election

“If you count the legal votes I easily win,” Trump said. “If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us.

“We think there’ll be a lot of litigation because we can’t have an election stolen like this.

“I have been talking about this for many months with all of you. And I’ve said very strongly that mail-in ballots are going to end up being a disaster.”

Trump himself voted by mail and there is absolutely no evidence of widespread voter fraud.

Democrats encouraged their supporters to vote by mail due to the coronavirus pandemic.
