American Idol's Katharine McPhee's stunning wedding dress as she marries David Foster

Katharine McPhee has married her producer partner David Foster in a lavish ceremony while wearing a very unique wedding dress.

The American Idol star, who came to fame in the 2006 series, shared a snap of herself heading to the St Yeghiche Armenian Apostolic Church in London’s Kensington in the back of her wedding car.

She was joined by her best friend as she made her way to the church where she was marrying her love in front of 100 of their closest friends and family.

Katharine wore a stunning wedding gown designed just for her by Zac Posen, who was even on hand outside the church to make last-minute adjustments to her outfit.

The plunging strapless tulle dress featured a sweetheart neckline with a pretty corset nipping Katharine in at the waist.

It then fell downwards into a full skirt, which just about swept the floor as she climbed gracefully out of the car.

Katharine finished off her look with a matching veil that was tied at the back and pinned just under her chic bun.

She looked incredible walking into the church, surrounded by burly bodyguards holding black umbrellas to protect her from prying eyes.

Katharine finished off her bridal look with delicate stud earrings and a pair of strappy metallic sandals.

The pair had thrown a wild pre-wedding celebration on Thursday with a special bus tour of London

The 35-year-old singer has known David – who at 69 is almost exactly double her age – for 13 years, after they met on American Idol.

However, it’s unclear when they first started dating, as he was briefly linked to Kylie Minogue in 2017.

David produced Katharine’s first single, a cover of the Wizard Of Oz classic Somewhere Over The Rainbow, which she acknowledged in a sweet Instagram post.

Sharing a clip of her singing the song on Friday, Katharine wrote: “Exactly 13 years ago today my very first single, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, was released right after Idol.

“Today… I’m marrying the man who produced it. Life is full of beautiful coincidences, isn’t it? Thank you for taking me over the rainbow, David.”

Her groom met her at the alter wearing a smart tuxedo with a bow tie, as is tradition for American weddings.

They celebrated their nuptials long into the night with a lavish reception for 80 guests in Mayfair, where Katharine changed into a second wedding dress in a similar style to her first one.

The petrol blue silky gown clung to her curves as the beaming bride clutched her new husband’s hand and they made their way down the steps to their awaiting car.

Both of them wore glinting new rings on their left hands to celebrate their marriage.

The previous day had seen the newlyweds treat their family to bus tour around the capital city in a specially commissioned double decker.

The red sightseeing vehicle proudly displayed the words ‘D & K Love Tour’ as it carried champagne-quaffing guests around London’s top sights.

A host of lookalikes boarded the bus at various stops, including a fake Donald Trump, the Queen, Sherlock Holmes, cops and robbers, and even some of London’s traditional pearly kings and queens.

The tour finished at the Punchbowl pub formerly owned by Guy Ritchie. Guests included David’s daughters Sara and Erin, Tommy Haas, Roger Federer and his wife Mirka Federer.

It’s far from the first wedding for both of the lovebirds.

Katherine was previously married to actor Nick Cokas, 54, from 2008 to 2014, while David has been married four times – including to Gigi and Bella Hadid ‘s mum Yolanda Hadid – and has five children and seven grandchildren.
