Amber list: which countries are included and the quarantine rules

The government has updated the list of countries currently classed as amber on its travel traffic light system.

Fully vaccinated adults and all children can travel to amber list countries and skip quarantine on their return to England. They also need to take a pre-arrival negative Covid test and a PCR test on day 2 after entering England.

Unvaccinated British adults have to take a pre-arrival test and PCR tests on days 2 and 8, as well as self-isolating for ten days on their return to England.

Which countries are on the amber list?

Four countries have been moved from the amber list to the red list today – Georgia, Mexico, La Reunion and Mayotte.

Meanwhile, India, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE have been moved from the red to the amber list, and France has been moved from amber plus to amber, meaning vaccinated adults no longer have to quarantine on their return.

Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Romania and Norway have been moved from the amber list to the green list.

The changes will come into effect at 4am on Sunday 8 August in England.
