Amazon Prime Day SHOCK console reveal: Amazon takes on Nintendo and Sony with new device

Amazon Prime customers can get their hands on a brand new console from July 15, it has been revealed.

As part of Amazon Prime Day on July 15, subscribers can pre-order the mini PC Engine console.

Launching in 2020, the PC Engine Mini is Konami’s rival to the SNES Mini from Nintendo, the Sega Mega Drive Classic Mini and the Sony PlayStation Classic.

In the UK and Europe it will be known as the PC Engine Core Grafx Mini, while US customers will know it as the TurboGrafx-16.

It launches with 50 games, including 26 Japanese titles such as Snatcher, Chō Aniki and Jaseiken Necromancer.

Snatcher is undoubtedly the highest profile game on the list, although it’s unclear if it will have any kind of English translation.

The story-driven cyberpunk thriller was designed by Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame.

Konami explains more about the console over on its website, describing it as a compact version of a classic design.

“A faithfully scaled-down version of the original TurboGrafx-16 design, right down to the smallest detail,” the company explains.

“Don’t worry, though–the controllers are still their original size, allowing for exactly the same gameplay experience!

“Originally released in Japan in 1987 as the TurboGrafx-16 home console captivated gamers with its revolutionary graphics and sound, and still holds a special place in the hearts of fans today.”
