Poor Amanda Holden has been rushed into surgery while on holiday in Europe after breaking her leg in two places.

The 48-year-old star had a nasty incident while taking a well-earned break in Europe alongside husband Chris Hughes.

Britain’s Got Talent’s Amanda was playing with her daughters Alexa, 13, and Hollie, seven, in the sea when she snapped her fibula in two places, ending up in a local hospital.

It was said she lost her footing and slipped while on a Total Wipeout-style assault course in the water.

Confirming the news on Monday night, Amanda said: ‘Sadly this is true. I suffered a nasty accident while playing in the sea with the family during our half-term holiday and subsequently broke my leg in two places.

‘I had an operation on Friday and a metal plate was fitted.’

A source previously told The Sun: ‘She lost her footing while climbing on an inflatable assault course with her daughter and fell into the sea.’

They continued to say that after receiving ‘urgent medical attention at a hospital,’ Amanda has said she ‘just wants to be at home and in her own bed where she can rest up.’

Fair play.

She’s not wasting time wallowing, though, as a rep confirmed the star would be back in the hot seat on her Heart radio show pronto.

The star loves a seaside escape

They said: ‘Despite this painful accident it’s business as usual for Amanda and she will return to Heart Breakfast on Monday 28th October.’

There’s no Holden Amanda back!

The star has been a busy bee recently, taking her daughter along to a press junket with Angelina Jolie for Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil.

Sitting in front of Angelina (who plays Maleficent) and Elle Fanning (Princess Aurora), young Hollie didn’t look even a smidge star struck, as she happily asked questions of the Hollywood stars.

Taking the reins for the final question, Amanda asked Angelina in particular how important it was for her to play roles ‘that gently give a message to younger people’.

‘When you know a large part of the audience is young, I think usually it’s the adults that need to be reminded of these messages,’ Angelina said.

She added: ‘The message that family is not just blood, you know, half of my children are not my blood but they are absolutely my family and my children and I love them so much.

‘It’s very important to understand there are lots of different ways to have family.’
