Amanda Holden leads stars sharing support for Simon Cowell after BGT judge breaks his back

A number of celebrities have wished Simon Cowell a speedy recovery after the music mogul broke his back.

The 60-year-old sustained the injuries when he fell off his electric bike while in the courtyard of his Malibu home.

The incident saw the music mogul rushed to hospital on Saturday night for surgery that involved a number of procedures, including having a metal rod put in his back.

Cowell’s spokeswoman told People magazine he had “broken his back in a number of places” and was “doing fine.”

Fellow Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden was among one of the first of Cowell’s famous friends to send sympathy his way after news of the accident broke online.

“I’ve been thinking about my dear friend all day and luckily I’m able to write that he’s had his operation and he’s doing really well,” she told her 1.9 million Twitter followers.

Sending her love to Cowell’s partner of seven years Lauren Silverman, and his six-year-old son Eric, 49-year-old Holden added: “My family and I wish you a speedy recovery.”

Former BGT star Piers Morgan also wrote: “So sorry to hear this. Sounds a very nasty accident. I wish Simon a successful operation and a full and speedy recovery.”

Cowell was meant to be filming the latest series of America’s Got Talent and his fellow Stateside panel also sent the head judge their love.

Heidi Klum shared a picture of herself alongside Sofia Vergara and Howie Mandel, who were both looking at Cowell’s vacant chair.

She captioned the snap: “Wishing you a speedy recovery.”

Vergara added: “We miss our boss! Come back fast!”

The freak accident almost had a devastating effect on Cowell’s long-term health, with The Sun reporting the star missed injuring his spinal cord by just one centimetre.

But Cowell himself appears to be in good spirits, reassuring his fans that he is on the road to recovery after posting on Twitter.

“Some good advice… If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time,” he joked.

“I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.

“And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone.”
