Amanda Holden lands new TV role following calls to be sacked from BGT

Amanda Holden has landed a cushy new TV gig, just days after a This Morning guest presenter called for her to be sacked from Britain’s Got Talent.

The Heart Radio breakfast host became embroiled in a public spat with Phillip Schofield, with This Morning’s craft queen Sophie Prescott slamming Amanda’s “me, me, me” attitude and ordering ITV to ditch the presenter.

Sophie has since U-turn on her original statement, and apologised for her comments citing “she didn’t speak those words”.

But Amanda’s TV career appears to be going from strength-to-strength, as she’s just been announced as a guest replacement for James Corden on Sky One sports panel quiz show, A League Of Their Own.

As Corden is tied up with other TV commitments including his late night talk show, he can only host two episodes of the 14th season.

His absence means a whole host of familiar faces will step into his shoes including sports presenter Clare Balding and former A League Of Their Own panelist comedian, and actor Jack Whitehall.

BGT host David Walliams and British athlete Dina Asher Smith will also host episodes, as well as comedian Romesh Ranganathan, who has taken over from Whitehall as a panellist.

Show regulars Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff will return as team captains.

Zai Bennett, director of programming at Sky, told The Mirror: “We’re delighted that James is hosting two of the shows this series but appreciate he has other work commitments this year.

“Therefore, we’ve got a brilliant line up of guests to keep his seat warm and we have no doubt that our new guest hosts will ensure that the laughs continue.”

Guests lined up for the upcoming series include I’m A Celebrity winner Harry Redknapp, gymnast Max Whitlock and former professional footballers David Ginola, Robin van Persie and Jermaine Jenas.

THIS MORNING: Phillip allegedly wanted Rochelle Humes as his co-presenter over Amanda (Pic: ITV )

Amanda Holden and Phillip Schofield’s feud was thrust into the spotlight after the mother-of-two claimed the This Morning’s host prevented her from getting a co-hosting role while Holly Willoughby filled in for Ant McParlin on I’m a Celeb.

It was claimed Phil “campaigned” for Amanda not to stand in for Holly, and instead, Rochelle Humes landed the role.

However, This Morning representatives have denied Phillip was involved with the decision.
