Amanda Holden auditioned in underwear to play Bond Girl alongside Pierce Brosnan

The blonde beauty has become a household name across the UK through shows like Britain’s Got Talent and This Morning.

But Amanda Holden reportedly had her sights set on a very different kind of onscreen performance back in the day.

According to the Mail On Sunday, the 48-year-old auditioned for the leading female role in the 2002 film Die Another Day

The TV personality lost out to Brit actress Rosamund Pike, best known for her role in the hit 2014 thriller, Gone Girl.

A source reportedly told the publication: “Amanda Holden auditioned for the role and was very good, but the producers wound up choosing Rosamund, who went on to become a massive movie star.”

“I wonder if Amanda thinks about what might have been? She gets to sit alongside Simon Cowell but it’s not quite the same as getting to jump into bed with James Bond, is it?”

The publication added that Amanda took the rejection on the chin, revealing she was made to strip to her undies in the original audition.

She reportedly said: “I’m not sure how I’d fit a film into my schedule but I’d be more than happy to revisit Pinewood Studios and do a sword fight in my pants again!”

The film was then 23-year-old Rosamund’s debut film role, as she played Miranda Frost, a gold medal-winning Olympic fencer.

She was sent to work alongside Pierce Brosnan’s character James Bond, though was secretly aligned with the film’s villain Gustav Graves.

Miranda later fell for the hunky M16 agent, spending a steamy night together beneath the sheets.

Had Amanda landed the role of the leading lady, she would have had to shoot a passionate scene with the dishy Irishman.

Rumours have recently been swirling over whether the Bond franchise will do away with the term “Bond Girl” for good.

Instead, they are apparently considering turning the phrase to “Bond Woman”, in a bid to take a more feminist, respectful approach to the female leads.
