Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston help five women propose – and even get Lady Gaga involved

Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston have helped five women to propose to their partners, in order to mark a very special leap year.

It’s tradition that women can propose to their partners on February 29th (or y’know any other day of the year if you choose, it is 2020 after all, people) so Amanda and Jamie got five couples on their Heart Breakfast show so that the ladies could propose to their unsuspecting boyfriends.

In order to get the clueless blokes to the studio, they were told they had won a competition to have a tour of the Heart studios and the chance to sit in on the Breakfast show and play a game of Mr & Mrs to see how much they knew about their partners.

The first couple, Nicole and Justin, have been together for 12 years, and while Nicole had teased Justin she would one day spring a surprise proposal on him, he never thought she would actually do it – but she did.

The second couple, Jude and Steve, had been an item for almost six years, and with Steve’s 50th nect month, Jude had told him this would be his present. When she proposed to him, Steve surprised her by proposing right back – which just makes our hearts melt a little.

The third couple had a helping hand from one of the world’s biggest stars – Lady Gaga recorded a message helping Rachel propose to Aaron, so that’s a proposal that literally nobody will ever be able to outdo.

It all got a bit emotional as the final two couples also got down on one knee, and Amanda and Jamie wished them all the best for their futures together.

Thankfully all five women got a big ‘yes’ from their partners for their proposals – and it’s a good job too, because nobody wants a ‘no’ live on air in front of five million listeners!

Congrats, guys!

Tune into Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston & Amanda Holden Weekdays from 6.30am.
