Alton Towers unveils new Stargazing Pods experience – here's how to book tickets

Are you looking to reconnect with the nature? Or do you want to embrace the great British outdoors?

Luckily, Alton Towers has launched the ultimate accommodation which aims to encourage families and friends to enjoy some fresh air.

The Stargazing Pods, which offer a unique, great value experience, made their debut at the resort last weekend.

Research from Alton Towers found that 25% of Brits do not regularly gaze at the stars, while 50% are unable to identify the Milky Way.

As for 22% of people in the UK, they believe that lack of understanding of the night sky is one of the barriers to skygazing.

Mark Thompson, who was among the first guests to sleep under the stars, has over 20 years of experience in observational astronomy and is a strong advocate of getting families outside.

His five tips to getting ready for stargazing are:

1. Get the gear – the secret is to use a torch that gives off a dim red light

2. Get a star chart – stargazing apps can show you the night sky from your location, any time of year, day or night

3. Look Up – armed with your torch and star chart you can look up and start learning your way around the night sky

4. Join a stargazing gang – a fun way to boost your new hobby and make lots of new friends

5. Buy a telescope or binoculars – take it to the next level for the best way to view the moon and stars

So if the Alton Towers Stargazing Pods are right up your alley, prices start from £88 off peak and from £123 peak.

Not only does the experience include a night outdoors, guests can enjoy drinks and entertainment throughout the evening.

Breakfast includes a take-away served at the Crooked Teaspoon, which is perfect for those who are rushing to theme park.

Luckily for guests, they are granted theme park access from 9:30am, which is half an hour before everyone else.

There are 102 Stargazing Pods in the park and they are open 149 days during the season.
