The event runs from May 22 to June 20, with what they describe as “an explosion of colours, sounds, high energy entertainment.”

Alton Towers is reopening from April 12 following the government announcement that outdoor attractions can open from next month.

From that same day, visitors can also book a stay in a Woodland Lodge in the Alton Towers Enchanted Village from £165.

Until May 17, guests staying overnight are only allowed one household per accommodation.

If you can hold off until May 17, the theme park’s other accommodation also becomes available, including the CBeebies Land Hotel, Splash Landings Hotel, Alton Towers Hotel and stargazing pods.

The stargazing pods in the Enchanted Village are the budget friendly option, costing from £88 for an overnight stay based on two adults and two children sharing.

Also coming to the theme park this May is their new Gangsta Granny ride -open from May 17.

The ride, which was meant to open last year but was delayed due to the pandemic, is based on the popular David Walliams novel.

It will be part of a new land called the World of David Walliams, where many of the characters featured in his books will be brought to life.

The story will be brought to life as a new 4D experience.

Guests will join the main characters in the book as they attempt to steal the crown jewels in what’s supposed to be the greatest heist in the history of the world.

Guests will descend with Ben and Granny into the sewers, be chased through the streets of London and even come face to face with the Queen.

Also at the new land will be attractions including Raj’s Shop Race, a Royal Carousel and Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp.
