Allan Phang Transitions from AirAsia to EVOS Esports

EVOS Esports, a team organization based in the Southeast Asian region, has welcomed Allan Phang as its new regional head of marketing and PR. Phang spent the last seven years with Malaysian airline, AirAsia, most recently as its head of esports. He will be responsible for handling EVOS Esports’ strategic marketing and public relations initiatives, evaluating opportunities for potential partnerships and sponsorships, and building relationships to grow industry awareness.

“I had this personal revelation, a calling to have a deeper role within the esports ecosystem, and during my meeting with Ivan Yeo, the co-founder and CEO of Evos Esports, who’s listed in Forbes 30 under 30 Asia, his thoughts and view on the esports industry resonated with me,” Phang told The Esports Observer. “I am excited to be given this opportunity and I look forward to being part of the journey in impacting the next generation positively.”

Phang introduced AirAsia to esports by recruiting employees to its company-team. The airline would go on to sponsor local teams and events, acquire its own team to compete in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and launch a dedicated gaming center. As well as pro esports players, EVO Esports manages 50 gaming influencers exclusively, and raised $4.4M USD in capital throughout 2019.
