Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler have proven themselves to be hilarious as they poke fun at their own fame in Murder Mystery.

The Netflix flick was released on Friday and the punters are quickly trickling their thoughts onto the internet with reviews praising the two actors for being funny as heck.

For a movie that many had low expectations for – unfortunately, the once comedic Sandler is now more often the punch line – the movie has surprised many.

The film centres on couple Audrey (Aniston) and Nick Spitz (Sandler), who head off on holiday on a swanky yacht, only for fellow holidaymaker Malcolm Quince (Terence Stamp) to be stabbed to death.

With the billionaire murdered, fingers begin to be pointed, and the pair become aware they’re in the frame.

Oh, also, Nick is a New York City Cop, while Audrey has a love for murder mystery books.

When Jennifer’s character tries to smuggle herself into first class.

In case you missed it, the Friends actor once starred in an advert for the luxury airline Emirates, in which she has a nightmare that she’s on a plane without a bar.

Many viewers would have remembered this commercial when Audrey gets caught by a flight attendant who asked her to leave the plane’s bar.

She said: ‘I will head to the lower-class cabin and sit where I should. Shovel some coal.’

Nick, who apparently has not seen Jen’s ad, said: ‘There’s a bar? There’s bars on planes now?’

Adam’s character gets very very starstruck.

‘Look at this right in front of us! I feel like I got kicked in the belly right now! I lost my wind!’ Nick exclaimed after meeting an actress. ‘This is great!’

In the past, Adam has not shied away with retelling awkward stories of his previous fan encounters.

He once told in a Variety conversation: ‘I get, every day, some love on the streets. When I’m out eating, people do pull up a chair.’

Jennifer’s character shows what it’s like for celebrities to hear gossip about themselves.

Audrey, while standing in front of Suzi Nakamura (Shioli Kutsuna) said: ‘Wow, look. She’s so pretty.’

Then, Aniston’s character rudely continued: ‘She’s that kind of pretty that you don’t really know what country she’s from. I mean, I can’t tell. Can you tell?’

The woman answers the question: ‘Japan’, to which her husband had to interrupt and say, ‘She can hear you. She’s not on television. You’re watching a real person.’

Jennifer has written about her negative experiences with the tabloid media culture for Huffington Post and Marie Claire.

Which makes it all the more ironic when Audrey goes back to her room and researches the woman she just met. She exclaimed: ‘We are literally right in the middle of a TMZ story!’

Elsewhere in the movie, fans were left obsessed with the wedges Jen’s character proudly wears.

After Audrey tries to reason with Suzi about how ‘love is tough without money,’ she gets called out for her choice of footwear.

Suzi jeered: ‘I’ll take your word for it! You’re the one whose shoe’s still got a sticker from Marshalls on it.’

‘How dare you! These are from Target!’ said Audrey, making us believe that espadrilles will come back in fashion.
