Alisson injury return date confirmed as Liverpool get huge title race boost

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker will return to the Reds side for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian has been absent ever since picking up a calf injury in the first half of the Reds’ opening game of the Premier League season at home to Norwich City, when he was replaced by summer signing Adrian.

The former West Ham stopper has been hugely impressive during his time between the sticks for the Reds, helping Jurgen Klopp’s side to eight straight top-flight wins as they’ve gone eight points clear at the top of the table.

Few could have imagined the 32-year-old’s impact as he has helped keep Liverpool’s perfect record intact, as well as helped them win the European Super Cup against Chelsea on penalties.

But Alisson was always going to return when he recovered, and having been left out as a precaution for the 2-1 win over Leicester City before the international break he will now don the gloves in Manchester.

The Brazil international was recently named as FIFA’s Best Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year have helped his club to the Champions League and his country to the Copa America in 2019.
