Alfie Deyes is over the moon to be expecting a baby girl with his girlfriend Zoe Sugg but has revealed one part of it is proving more difficult than expected – choosing a name.
The YouTube star, who’s been dating Zoe for nearly nine years, explained he might need to meet his daughter before he can fully decide.
‘I wish we had [decided on a name]. I just really want to see her little face!’ Alfie told Metro.co.uk as he launches the new series of his podcast The Secret’s Out.
‘I know so many people that have named their babies – the baby’s been born and then they’ve changed the name. I didn’t realise how hard it was to make a decision on the name.
‘We’ve got one in mind that we really, really like, but I want to see her little face beforehand,’ he revealed.
Explaining that he’s not even the slightest bit nervous about being a dad, Alfie added that he’s had some valuable advice from his loved ones.
‘I feel like the main piece of advice we get is just do what’s right for you,’ the 27-year-old pointed out. ‘I feel like, especially with babies, there’s so much advice out there and it’s hard to know what’s going to be fitting for you until the little one arrives.’
Asked how he feels about the big change in his life, Alfie nervously noted: ‘Hopefully not a big one! Hopefully a little one. I was a big baby. Hopefully a little one.’

Alfie is a YouTube veteran, having recently celebrated his 12-year anniversary on the site and racking up more than four million subscribers.
Despite it being one of the longest-running commitments of his life, he insists he’s never considered giving it up.
‘I think I’ve always been very open to switching things up,’ Alfie reflected. ‘At one point in my life I filmed every day of my life for four and a half years and uploaded it the following day and that was incredibly intense. That was a lot of work but I stopped doing that while I still loved it, so it never got to the point where I didn’t enjoy it.
‘Equally, like things with The Secret’s Out, switching it up and trying out a podcast and jumping onto that platform is something I’ve never tried before. I didn’t know if people were gonna enjoy it. Trying new things has always been something that I’m really open to.’
‘I’ve been very fortunate that I’m able to shift my YouTube content around what I’m passionate about at the time, so it’s never ever got boring [and I’ve] never got close to wanting to quit at all. Because I’ve just been able to be mold things around what I’m interested in. [I’m] so bloody lucky to be in the position where I’m 12 years on and still loving my job.’
Alfie’s podcast The Secret’s Out has returned for series two, with celeb guests opening up about their most embarrassing and hilarious secrets.
‘There have been a lot of things that you would assume people would know about each other, especially with relationships or mum and daughters that have just never come to light!’ he revealed. ‘I suppose the podcast allows for people to open up and discuss things with the other people on the podcast in a way in which there probably isn’t space for that normally.
‘I don’t know why but when we’re recording, people feel really safe to discuss their own secrets, the celebrities. Some of the stuff people say, or admit to, I feel like they would never normally discuss anywhere else, so I feel like it creates a really good environment for people to open up.’
