Alfie Allen reveals behind-the-scenes ‘macho’ Game Of Thrones rivalry with Kit Harington and Richard Madden

It may be months since the polarising finale of Game Of Thrones, but star Alfie Allen continues to serve up the goss from the set.

The star, who played Theon Greyjoy in the HBO epic that came to a close this year, fessed up on the behind-the-scenes rivalry he had with his co-stars Kit Harington and Richard Madden.

The three played pseudo brothers – Madden being Rob Stark, Harington being bastard Jon Snow and Allen being the kid the Stark’s ended up with following a battle – but offset they had a little competition of their own.

Their abs.

We kid you not, according to Allen, the three men would spend their time getting hench in efforts to one-up their co-star and pal.

‘At the beginning, me, Kit Harington and Richard Madden were definitely in some sort of competition about who could be in the best shape,’ Allen told The Guardian. ‘It’s not like we were comparing, but there was definitely a macho vibe going around.’

He added: ‘But I wouldn’t say there was competition in any sense other than who had the best six-pack. And Kit will always win that.’

Ah yes, remember when Kit broke the world when he debuted that 20-pack when he filmed Pompeii in 2014.

Anyway, it’s an interesting (literal) flex for the lads, seeing as they seldom got their kit off what with all that chatter of winter coming and what not.

Hardly warm enough in Winterfell to get one’s kit off and show off those abs they’ve been working so hard for.

While everyone seemed so put out by the ending of the show – which saw Theon earlier killed while trying to take down the Night King – the actor has defended the showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff, who had a lot of ‘pressure’ in crafting a finale that would impress such a large audience.

‘People were just massively emotionally invested in it, and that’s testament to how great the show is,’ he said. ‘Things ended in a similar fashion with Breaking Bad and The Sopranos. There’s never a good ending and I think [the show’s writers] David Benioff and DB Weiss had a huge amount of pressure on them.’
