Alexandra Burke has nabbed the main part in a Tina Turner-inspired blockbuster and is busy prepping so she can be simply the best.

The 2008 X Factor winner has carved out a successful theatre career for herself, starring in West End productions like The Bodyguard, Sister Act The Musical and Chicago, and showing off her dancing skills as the runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017.

But now she’ll be transferring all of that performance experience to the big screen to star as a leading character whose journey is inspired by the career of the 81-year-old musical legend.

According to The Sun, the musical is a ‘big budget’ co-production between the BBC and the BFI and is set to be released next year.

A film insider revealed to the publication that Alex will be playing a ‘a young musician trying to land her break like Tina’ and that the 32-year-old will have the chance to belt out some of the musician’s ‘most iconic songs’.

They continued: ‘To say Alex is excited is an understatement.

‘And after the year the acting industry has had, with no touring or theatres open, this couldn’t have been better news for her.

‘Alex has got the voice and she showed what a great actor she is as a leading West End actress for the past seven years.’

The source also claimed that the new leading actress has purchased a Peleton bike in order to ensure her legs are as toned as possible for the role so she can match up with Tina’s famous pins.

This isn’t the first time Alex has stepped into the shoes of a bona fide singing superstar as her first major acting role in 2014 was as Whitney Huston’s character Rachel Marron in the West End (more) musical adaptation of The Bodyguard.

That means the Londoner was belting out the beast that is I Will Always Love You multiple shows a week so her voice can certainly deliver.

She also had success with her own music career after The X Factor, as she scored three number one singles, including her cover version of Hallelujah, and released three albums.

Tina Turner has sold over 100 million records during her lengthy career and received 12 Grammy Awards, releasing classics such as The Best, What’s Love Got to Do with It and We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome).

And that’s not to mention her earlier powerful songs Proud Mary and River Deep – Mountain High, which she released as a duo with her ex-husband Ike Turner.

Safe to say, this Tina Turner-based film should be firing on all cylinders.
