Alexandra Burke hints Gorka Marquez not having celebrity partner on Strictly is ‘KARMA'

Alexandra Burke reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing back in 2017 alongside professional dancer, Gorka Marquez.

During their time on the show, the pair were surrounded by rumours they were not getting along well, which they both denied.

But Alexandra has shared a very cryptic post about “karma” in the days after Gorka announced he won’t have a celebrity partner on the the BBC One series this time round.

The Bad Boys hitmaker added a dancer emoji and a GIF of someone sipping tea to the Instagram story upload.

The post read: “KARMA. That’s all I have to say…”

Express.co.uk has contacted Alexandra Burke’s representative for comment.

Back when Alexandra was on the show, it was reported she was at “war” with Gorka.

At the time, Alexandra slammed the rumours in an interview with Radio Times.

She said: “There have been stories in the newspapers that we’ve fallen out, which are just ridiculous.

“We are such close friends, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had a connection with someone like this before.”

Gorka shared a statement on his Instagram account earlier in the week where he revealed he “sadly” wouldn’t be dancing with a celebrity this time round.

Alongside a photo of himself, he said: “For everybody that’s been asking, I can let you know that this series, I sadly won’t be partnered with a celebrity for the main series of Strictly.

“However, I will still be heavily involved in all of the group numbers and all things Strictly!”

“I’m excited to see this year’s celebs and my fellow professionals dance for the Glitter Ball and I hope to be back fighting for it next year,” he continued. “As always, it’s gonna be a GREAT series.”

Gorka hinted he didn’t take the decision lightly as he made a dig at the show in the comment section.

One person quizzed the star: “Nooo… why? You are a brilliant dancer. I hope it’s your choice so you can spend more time with mum and baby.”

Gorka replied: “Not really LOL,” followed by a shoulder shrug emoji before adding: “But I will” in reference to spending time with his girlfriend Gemma Atkinson and their baby daughter, Mia.

Along with Gorka, Graziano Di Prima also announced he wouldn’t be as involved in the show this year and will only be in group dances.

In their places, it’s been reported Neil Jones will get a celebrity partner for the first time after being a choreographer and featuring in group dances for the past few years.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One on Saturday, September 7.
