Alex Jones: The One Show host addresses tough time with husband 'At each other's throats'

As advised by the Government amid the coronavirus outbreak, The One Show host Alex Jones, 42, has been staying at home with her husband Charlie Thomson and their two children. Speaking on the show, the presenter insisted the lockdown has been taking its toll on her marriage this week.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off contestant caught up with her co-star Amol Rajan on The One Show yesterday.

The television duo discussed the current lockdown, where many citizens have been staying at home in a bid to combat the disease.

Alex asked Amor how his family had been coping, to which he joked his children have been “going spare” during the process.

He then asked Alex how she had been getting on, to which she insisted her home life had been pretty manic.

She said: “I suppose the tele answer is yeah, we did loads of crafts, we’ve had a great time, but the real answer is this, we were at each other’s throats, me and my husband.

“We’ve been having cabin fever, the kids are fine, they don’t really know what’s going on.

“We miss my parents, it’s all getting very real isn’t it.”

Laughing at her response, her co-star then asked how Alex’s husband Charlie is.

Despite seemingly having a hectic household, the presenter has been managing to leave her home on a daily basis to present The One Show.

Alongside Matt Baker and other stand-in presenters, she has continued to host the show live from the studio, but with social distancing measures in place.

Tonight will be her co-star’s final episode afer nine years on the show. The latter announced he is leaving the show last year.

Alex said a replacement for Matt is yet to be chosen by the show’s team, insisting there is “no rush”.

She told The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine: “We decided that we aren’t going to rush into a decision of who to replace him.

“Matt nailed it, but it’s a hard job. And it’s got to be someone I can have a laugh with.

“We’ll probably have guest hosts a week at a time over summer. We’ve been racking our brains and there are lists and lists [of people], but I think the right person will become obvious in their own way.”

Elsewhere, Alex has signed up to this year’s series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.

The Channel 4 show continues tonight at 8pm.
