Alex Jones has been spotted enjoying a leisurely stroll in the May sunshine as she takes in her maternity leave ahead of the birth of her second baby.
The One Show presenter embodied the sunshine in a bright yellow blouse and military coat as she prepare to welcome her second child with husband New Zealand insurance broker Charlie Thomson.
The 42-year-old bid an emotional farewell to the BBC One show on 26 April with co-presenter Shane Richie surprising her with a very thoughtful gift – a train seat named after her.
Alex had previously revealed she wanted a train seat named after her but not just on any old train – the iconic Snowdon Mountain Railway in Northwest Wales.
‘I’m chuffed,’ said Alex through laughter as Shane also delivered flowers and a card from the team.
The day before she teared up as she presented her final show with usual host Matt Baker; joking that the months will ‘go quick, I’ll be back in the autumn’ she asked co-presenter Matt to ‘keep the seat warm’.
‘It goes without saying, I’ll miss you,’ Matt replied, prompting a brief emotional moment from Alex which saw her tear up live on air.
While Alex is away on maternity leave, Emma Willis, Mel Giedroyc and Stacey Dooley will be among the presenters filling in for her.
‘I know The One Show will be in very capable hands while I’m on maternity leave and good luck to all the guest presenters – I hope they have as much fun as I do on the show,’ she said of her much-deserved break.
‘I’ll be back on the sofa in the autumn, but in the meantime, I plan on watching from my own sofa with little Teddy and the newest addition!’
Alex and husband Charlie have one child together in baby Teddy, who was born in January 2017.
