The One Show host Alex Jones, 42, announced she has given birth to her newborn son during tonight’s live episode of the show. The presenter revealed she gave birth to her second child last Monday and has named him Kit Thomson. Ahead of revealing the name, she told her co-host Matt Baker, 41, and stand in host Angela Scanlon, 35, they were enjoying their time at home as a family of four. Alex also joked her two-year-old son Teddy believed she was going to call his new sibling Thomas after Thomas the Tank Engine.
Alex added she was worried about introducing Kit to Teddy, but said he has been “a dream”.
“I was really worried about that,” she admitted.
But Alex said she stopped worrying because “Teddy has taken to it like a duck to water, being a big brother.”
“He’s been fantastic, really gentle with him,” she added.
Following her on air announcement, Alex took to Instagram to give her 168,000 followers a glimpse of her newborn.
The presenter shared a picture of her holding on to Kit’s hand while sharing a glimpse of his face.
In view of her 168,000 followers, she wrote: “And then there were 4!!!
“Little Kit Thomson arrived safely and very speedily last Monday at 2.21am weighing a healthy 7lbs 3.
“Teddy, Charlie and I are absolutely besotted by baby brother and are enjoying this special time as we get used to being a foursome and generally breathing in that lovely newborn smell!
“A huge thank you to the midwives at the birth centre, Queen Charlotte Hospital for everything you did for us. #nhsheroes.”
Many of her fans flocked to her page to send congratulate the star.

Alex took maternity leave from the show last month.
She has so far been replaced by Angellica Bell and Angela Scanlon, with Stacey Dooley and Emma Willis also taking over in imminent weeks.
