Alan Sugar waded into Meghan and Harry feud after Megixt: 'Broken record'

Despite having happened over a year ago the Megxit saga rages on. Meghan and Harry announced their departure in January 2020, shortly after moving to Canada and then the US where they currently live. Unable to visit the family for the rest of the year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the pair lived mostly privately, one of the main driving factors behind their move.

This year has been different, however.

In February they revealed they would no longer be returning as senior working royals, something which was later confirmed by the Queen.

Not a month later the pair appeared in a tell-all interview with US talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

Here, they aimed several allegations at the Royal Family including on mental health and racism.

It sparked outrage among the public, wedging a distinct divide between Team Meghan and Harry and Team Queen.

Someone who has become a feature of the feud, though not a part of the family, is former Good Morning Britain (GMB) host Piers Morgan.

He in fact lost his job over his dogmatic criticism of Meghan and Harry post-Oprah interview, but even before this had expressed a hardline opposition to them.

In the wake of Megxit, Piers launched an all-out attack on the pair, writing a seething tweet that read: “People say I’m too critical of Meghan Markle – but she ditched her family, ditched her Dad, ditched most of her old friends, split Harry from William & has now split him from the Royal Family.

He said: “[Bill’s] done a very good job…and all Morgan talks about is poor old Harry and his young wife, and vegan stuff.

“I mean he’s like a broken record, he needs to stop now.

“Stop with all that rubbish, and talk about things that people are interested in.”

Before this, Piers had described Meghan as a “shameless piece of work”.

Lord Sugar previously claimed that the GMB host was bitter after he’d “grovelled” to her for a drink, however.

Piers himself has admitted that Meghan ignored him when they first met.

Appearing on RTÉ’s ‘The Late Late Show‘ in 2018, he told host Ryan Turbidy how Meghan had “ghosted” him.

He said: “We spent two hours in a pub, she had a couple of dirty martinis, I had a couple of pints, we got on brilliantly.

“And then I put her in a cab, and it turned out to be a cab which took her to a party where she met Prince Harry.

“And the next night they had a solo dinner together, and that was the last I heard from Meghan Markle.

“She ghosted me, Ryan.

“Meghan Markle ghosted me.”
