Alan Menken took home his first Emmy Award on Sunday, vaulting him into awards history by becoming the 16th EGOT winner.
The 71-year-old composer won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song in a Children’s, Young Adult or Animated Program for Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.
The Disney Channel PR Twitter revealed that Menken completed the last leg of the EGOT, having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award in his illustrious career.

This award marks Menken’s first Emmy, but he has a whopping eight Oscars, his first two in 1990 for Best Original Song (Under the Sea) and Best Original Score for The Little Mermaid.
He also won another two Oscars in 1992 for Best Original Song and Best Original Score for Beauty and the Beast.
Menken won another two Oscars a year later in 1993 with Best Original Song and Best Original Score wins for Aladdin.

His final two Oscars came in 1996 with Best Original Song and Best Original Score wins for Pocahontas.
Menken has also won 11 Grammy Awards, mostly for the songs and records produced for the aforementioned films.
His last win was in 2010 for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television, for the song I See The Light from the Disney film Tangled.

The composer won his first and only Tony Award in 2012 for Best Original Score for the musical Newsies.
The last EGOT winner was lyricist/producer Tim Rice, who won an Emmy in 2018 to shore up the prestigious title, after winning a Grammy and Tony in 1980 and an Oscar in 1993.
Andrew Lloyd Weber also won his EGOT in 2018 after his Emmy win, following Grammy and Tony wins in 1980 and an Oscar in 1998.

John Legend became one of the youngest ever to win the EGOT after his Emmy win in 2018, following his Grammy in 2006, Oscar in 2015 and Tony in 2017.
Other EGOT winners include Robert Lopez, the youngest ever at 39 years of age (eight months younger than Legend), producer Scott Rudin, Whoopi Goldberg, director Mike Nichols and Mel Brooks.
Menken may very well be adding to his EGOT trophy case, signing on to create new music with Lin-Manuel Miranda for Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

He is also attached to compose the score for reboots of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Disenchanted, a sequel to Enchanted.
Menken will also be writing original songs for remakes of Little Shop of Horrors and Hercules as well.
He most recently composed the score and wrote music for Disney’s Aladddin reboot starring Will Smith.
