AJ Pritchard: Strictly star 'kicked out of studio' with Saffron Barker amid tough training

AJ Pritchard, 24, and Saffron Barker, 19, have been hitting rehearsals hard since being partnered up on the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 launch show at the weekend. Yesterday, they stayed in the training room for so long, they ended up being “kicked out”, presumably because the venue was closing for the night. In a video which AJ shared with his 537,000 Instagram followers, the pair could be seen looking exhausted but satisfied. “It is the end of day two,” he told fans. “It is a long day.

“We’re getting kicked out of the studio now but it was a breakthrough evening after food,” AJ revealed.

“Yes! Nando’s… that peri sauce honestly helped us soo much,” Saffron chimed in.

“At the beginning of the day, admit it: I was bad,” she added. “I was worse than day one.”

“There was a big journey,” the Strictly pro replied tactfully.

The time stamp on the video said it was taken at 8.56pm, demonstrating how late the pair had stayed in the training room.

Later in the evening, AJ once again praised his partner’s efforts, telling fans: “Today has been a great day. It’s been a long day but so worth it. We got so much done.”

With just a short night’s rest, the Strictly duo were soon back in rehearsals in a bid to get Saffron’s dance skills up to scratch ahead of the first live show later this month.

With less than two weeks to go until her proper dance floor debut, they putting in as much time as possible.

“Ready for another great day in this studio with Saffron,” AJ filmed himself saying. “But, honestly, I don’t know about you, Saffron, but my legs… Yesterday killed them, that is for sure!”

On her own Instagram account, Saffron referred to day two’s training as a day of “mixed emotions” in view of her own 1.3 million followers.

This morning, she also admitted her “legs wouldn’t let her” get up out of bed, evidently feeling the effects of the gruelling dance training.

Filming herself in the studio later in the morning, the social media star said she had had a “breakthrough moment”.

“We’ve managed to do the routine once the whole way through!” she exclaimed, adding that the technique hadn’t necessarily all been correct.

“This was needed, honestly,” she gushed. “AJ dropped to the floor. It was a great feeling.”

Saffron’s first dance has yet to be revealed, but it seems she and AJ have been hard at work trying to perfect the routine in time for their first performance together.

The Strictly Come Dancing 2019 live shows kick off Saturday September 21 on BBC One.
