Joanna Chimonides, 22, opened up about why Curtis Pritchard, 23, has decided not to mention his older brother AJ Pritchard, 24, on Love Island 2019. The former Islander, who was coupled up with Michael Griffiths, 27, on the ITV2 show, explained the dancer “wants to be his own person”. When asked about whether Curtis has spoken about his sibling in the villa, Joanna exclusively told Express.co.uk: “Funnily enough he hasn’t really. “When I had a little chat with him and we were just talking he mentioned it, but aside from that he didn’t really mention it.”
She went on to explain: “I think that’s quite good because he wants to be his own person.
“He wants to be known for him maybe, not his brother.”
Joanna also addressed the reality star’s relationship with ring girl Maura Higgins, 28, and insisted that the pair “work” as a couple because “opposites attract”.
The brunette beauty said: “I love Maura and Curtis together, when Maura is with Curtis she goes into her shy giggly self and it’s really nice to see a boy have that effect on her.
“She’s so relaxed around him and feels like she can chat about things she normally wouldn’t chat about. I didn’t think they’d be together, but they work.
“Opposites attract and they work well because they bring so many different experiences together and they can both learn from each other.”
The row between the dancer and the pharmacist erupted on the show after Curtis encouraged Jordan Hames, 24, to reveal his feelings to India Reynolds, 28, despite being in a relationship with Anna.
When Anna heard about Curtis’ advice, she called him a “narcissist” and said she doesn’t think he’s a “good person”.
After watching the drama ensue on the programme, AJ suggested Anna didn’t know the meaning of the word on Twitter.
He wrote: “Does Anna know the definition of narcissistic?
“Learn to pronounce adjective having or showing an excessive interest in or admiration of oneself and one’s physical appearance. #loveisland @LoveIsland.”
