‘I valued my privacy’: Aimee Osbourne has no regrets about not doing MTV reality show with famous dad Ozzy

Her sister Kelly and brother Jack became household names when they starred together with their famous parents in the MTV reality series The Osbournes.

But Aimee Osbourne, the oldest of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s three children, refused to be part of the TV show and even moved out of the family home at 16 in order to avoid it.

The now 36-year-old explained in an interview on New York’s Q104.3  Classic Rock station that she hadn’t wanted to be ‘typecast’ at such a young age and also valued her privacy.

Aimee, who is following in her dad’s footsteps as a musician, told radio host Jonathan Clark: ‘For me, I had grown up around having a pretty well-known dad anyway, and … I always really valued my privacy within that family.’

She went on: ‘For me personally, and for who I am, you know, as far as morally and also just to give myself a chance to actually develop into a human being as opposed to just being remembered for being a teenager, it didn’t really line up with what I saw my future as.’

Aimee is currently promoting her single Shared Something With The Night with band ARO.

Aime explained: ‘I was a real kind of loner in my teens. I would sit in my room for hours with my disco ball light, listening to all my favorite bands and just kind of, you know, creating this kind of inner world in my head to all these incredible songs and artists.’

‘I wouldn’t say I was a stereotypical teen as far as type of music that I liked,’ she added. ‘I liked stuff a little bit more avant-garde and ethereal, a little darker, grittier.’

The Osbournes debuted on MTV in 2002 and ran for four seasons ending in March 2005.

The show reinvigorated Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy’s career and launched his wife and manager Sharon as a major TV personality in the US and UK, leading to jobs on CBS The Talk and the UK’s X Factor.

Daughter Kelly, 35, has also gone on to enjoy a career as a TV personality while son Jack, 34, is also a media personality.

‘I’m not back to 100 percent. I’m about 75 percent there, but it’s such a slow recovery,’ he said.

‘Spine surgery is bad news, man. I’ve been in such a bad state with pain; I’m still having a lot of pain.’
