Africa deals veteran joins transatlantic law firm as partner in Edinburgh


Corporate law firm Rooney Nimmo has recruited a former partner at heavyweight US firm Baker McKenzie to join its Edinburgh office.

University of Edinburgh graduate Scott Nelson, who will also work out of Rooney Nimmo’s London base, has spent his legal career representing private equity funds in their investment and deal activity. He is an expert on investment in Africa, where he has spent much of his career based in Johannesburg.

Before joining Rooney Nimmo, Nelson was a global partner at Baker McKenzie where he split his time between London and South Africa.  Prior to that he served as head of the private equity practice at Africa’s largest law firm ENSAfrica.
