Special clothing to improve posture is currently very popular

Posture is something that many people forget about. Anyone who has an office job knows it only too well. You sit in front of the computer all day and often don’t move enough, possibly adopting a forward-bent posture or bending your shoulders because you are absorbed in your work. Poor posture can lead to tension, pain and, in the worst case, long-term problems.

But it’s not only in the office that we should all pay attention to having good posture. Special clothing to improve posture whatever you’re doing is currently very popular, so we tested the Posture Shirt™ and Posture Brace from ActivePosture®.

Test of the Posture Shirt

Many people who work in an office or home office will have the same problem as I do. During lockdowns, you set up an improvised workplace at home. After several months of sitting at the kitchen table, which is not really designed as a workstation in terms of height, I noticed how my posture had deteriorated. The consequences for me were tensions in my neck and shoulders, a twinge in my back. While I could normally counteract my back problems with sport, I now needed a new solution. This was the perfect time for a test.

When I received the Posture Shirt and put it on, I could immediately feel an effect. It was a light effect at first, but I noticed after a few hours that I paid more attention to my posture and was less inclined to slouch. After two days, I felt a more significant improvement. My constant neck tension had eased a bit – was I just imagining it? Definitely not. After the second week, I consciously sat straighter, even if I only wore the shirt a few hours a day.

Later, I started doing sports at home again. I also like to wear the shirt for this, as it helps me with a better posture during my exercises.

How does the Posture Shirt work?

The idea for the posture-correcting shirt comes from Kinesio-taping (also called medical taping), used extensively in physiotherapy and competitive sports. The elastic shirt is skin-tight and has rigid NeuroBands on the back. These bands ensure controlled tension and a slight pull around the shoulders when you slouch.

Who is the Posture Shirt suitable for?

The Posture Shirt is suitable for all adults who deal with poor posture or adults who suffer from back problems and muscle tension. Most of the ActivePosture® users deal with posture issues or suffer from muscle tension or pain, but many also use the Posture Shirt as a preventative measure or even for sports.

Where can I find the Posture Shirt?

You can find all the products online: activeposture.co.uk. Anyone who buys the Posture Shirt can test it for 30 days and send it back if they are not satisfied. ActivePosture® has provided us with a unique offer of 15% off everything for our readers by using the code MIRROR15 in the online shop.

Test of the Posture Brace

The second accessory in the test was the Posture Brace. The brace is primarily for shoulder support. In contrast to the Posture Shirt, it should only be worn during shorter periods of time and in a targeted manner, as it moderately fixates the upper body and restricts movement. The brace should relieve muscles during a short period of time to prevent slouching.

Personally, I found the Posture Brace rather constricting. It is most helpful in the evening in front of the TV, so that I don’t lie on the sofa like a banana with a bag of crisps in one hand and the remote control in the other…

Conclusion

For someone with posture issues or back problems, the Posture Shirt is definitely a blessing. It hasn’t magically improved my posture, but it reminds me to straighten up even in careless, concentrated moments. And after just two weeks, I can feel the first improvements in my posture.
