ADVERTORIAL: Building a brighter future for businesses

Businesses have been faced with numerous and varied challenges throughout the pandemic.

Many have operated in a near-constant state of flux, pausing and restarting in response to restrictions as rules have come in, eased, and then been reintroduced.

Throughout the pandemic, Business Gateway has seen this first-hand, as our advisers worked with businesses of all sizes as they adapted to the crisis. Throughout lockdown, advisers provided specialist, tailored one-to-one local office virtually or on the phone to help businesses cope and survive.

Now, as attention turns to building a brighter future, Business Gateway will be building on this support with the launch of Scottish Business Week – a virtual week-long event that runs in partnership with Scottish Enterprise, South of Scotland Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Skills Development Scotland.

This free event, which will run from 18 October to the 22nd of October, is a virtual festival for Scottish businesses of all sizes and across all sectors. It will offer inspiration, advice, and guidance for business owners as they reset and refocus on long-term businesses objectives, supported by keynote talks from experts across the Scottish business landscape.

• Businesses will be able to benefit from insights from experts such as Dr Martin Valenti and Dr Samuel Mwaura who will speak on topics such as sustainability and diversity.

• Additionally, as businesses look to put their best foot forward, they will also have the chance to hear from serial entrepreneur Vicky Brock, who recently co-founded her fifth technology company and learn from her story and experiences.

• Other sessions will touch on digital transformation, which has been a critical tool for all businesses during the pandemic, providing a vital way to reach customers and new markets. There are no signs these trends will reverse, and for many businesses, the focus should be on building on this progress as they look to the future. For business owners, this festival provides opportunities to learn and build on skills used on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as strategic tactics to improve SEO.

• There will also be a variety of chances to get insight into a variety of topics such as selling products online and how to identify gaps in your business strategy, ensuring business owners have every tool available to build back and succeed. Business will also be able to check in with their own wellness through regular yoga and wellbeing sessions.

Looking to the future, Business Gateway is perfectly placed to help businesses of any size or sector as they aim to move forward, taking the lessons from the pandemic and applying them to their current day-to-day operations.

With a variety of bespoke services available for those running a business, Business Gateway advisers remain available as the first point of contact and on hand to shed some light on a variety of issues, helping SMEs across Scotland survive, discover possibilities, and take advantage of the crucial support available.
