Adrien Rabiot transfer twist as Juventus face competition from 'new offer'

Just when it looked as though PSG’s Adrien Rabiot had finally decided his future it appears there may still be one final twist in the tale.

It was initially reported that the 24-year-old midfielder was close to agreeing terms on a move to Juventus , with his contract at PSG set to expire at the end of the month.

He was thought to be satisfied with the five-year deal worth €7m offered by the Italian champions and was ready to sign on the dotted line.

However, with ex-PSG sporting director Leonardo returning to the club there may still be an offer on the table for Rabiot to remain at Parc de Princes, and Football Italia believe he has asked Juventus for a ‘cooling off period’ to consider his options.

With Rabiot having been frozen out at PSG since December it had looked as though there was no way back for him at the club.

He landed himself in hot water when he visited a nightclub after PSG’s Champions League loss to Manchester United and damaged relations even further when he liked an Instagram post by Patrice Evra celebrating the victory.

But he is thought to have a good relationship with Leonardo, and the Brazilian could yet convince Rabiot to stay after all.

The likes of Liverpool and Tottenham had also been rumoured to be monitoring the situation, but the English clubs’ interest now appears to have cooled.

Whoever he eventually signs for, there is no doubt that if Rabiot can re-discover his form of previous seasons he could still prove to be an invaluable asset.

He was an integral part of the PSG side for five seasons prior to last year, but has not played any competitive football since December following his falling out with the board over his refusal to sign a new contract.
