Adele announced her split from Simon Konecki, her husband of three years and the father of her child.

A statement released by reps for Adele have said: ‘Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.’

Adele, 30, began dating Simon, 45, in 2011, and in 2012, they revealed that they were expecting their child, a son the called Angelo.

They’ve famously been private about their relationship throughout their time together, but it was thought that they married in secret in 2016, after the pair were photographed wearing what looked very much like wedding rings.

At the 2017 Grammys, Adele made it official when, after she accepted the Album of the Year award, she said: ‘Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son you’re the only reason I do it.’

As we revel in yet more proof that love is dead, let’s take a closer look at Adele’s career so far, because at least we’ll always have her tunes to keep us warm at night.

Adele’s career and net worth

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, who goes by Adele professionally, is one of the most successful and beloved singer/songwriters of our time.

She graduated from the BRIT School in 2006, had won the Brit Awards Critic’s Choice award by 2007, and put out her first album, 19, in 2008, which was certified eight times platinum in the UK.

Since then, she’s steadily reigned as one of the most successful singers in the business, having won Grammys, an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe for her work.

This goes a long way towards explaining her impressive net worth which, as of 2018, was £140 million  according to Cheatsheet – even though her last album was released in 2015.

As for what could be next for the star, the future isn’t certain.

It’s not known whether or not Adele will tour again, as it was announced that she had reportedly closed her touring company earlier this year, even though she’d earned over £140 million from performing in just one year.

On top of that, on a night out with her pal Jennifer Lawrence last month, she announced that she was a stay-at-home-mum to a crowd in a drag club.

However, back in 2017, she told a sold-out Wembley crowd that, while she might never tour again, she’ll ‘always write music.’

She said: ‘Touring isn’t something I’m good at. Applause makes me feel vulnerable. I don’t know if I will ever tour again. The only reason I’ve toured is you.

‘I know I come across as very anti-fame and anti all that and it’s because I am. It’s because I want to surprise you.

‘I want the element of surprise for every time I come back and it’s so hard to maintain that. I am going on break and I am just going to be a mum for a bit and I’m looking forward to that, but I’ll always write music and I’ll always put it out and I hope that you’ll be here.’
