ADELE opens up tonight about the pain of missing her son — as she tells all about a new song where she says she hates herself.

The star, 33, is asked by Oprah Winfrey about the meaning of heart-wrenching track Hold On.

The chat queen, 67, reads back the lyrics, including the line: “Right now I truly hate being me.”

Adele said it was inspired by advice she got from friends when she was at her lowest.

She admitted she struggled after her divorce from Simon Konecki, with whom she has nine-year-old son Angelo.

Adele told Oprah on her US TV special Adele: One Night Only: “My friends always would say, ‘Hold on’ when I would feel like the lyrics in the verse.

“But it was just exhausting trying to keep going with it.

“It’s a process. You know, the process of a divorce, the process of being a single parent.

“The process of not seeing your child every single day wasn’t really a plan that I had when I became a mum.

“The process of arriving for yourself every day, turning up for yourself every single day and still running a home, running a business.”

She “just felt like not doing it anymore”, she said, adding: “My feet hurt walking through all of that concrete.”

Since splitting from Konecki, 47, she has found romance with US super-agent Rich Paul, 39.

Adele: One Night Only, which features an open-air gig in LA, airs on CBS tonight.
