I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Adele Roberts, 40, was awarded her luxury item; a picture of television star Jane McDonald after a challenge last night. Adele baffled her fellow camp mates and viewers with her choice of item, as other camp mates chose more beneficial items such as a pillow, family photo and concealer.
Speaking to the camera after her co-stars’ reaction, she said of Jane: “She is a national treasure and she is the Queen of Wakefield.”
She also told camp mates: “Just think, whenever you’re going off to a trial, just give her a lucky rub and off you go.”
After her admission, many Twitter viewers queried her choice, with one writing: “We’re going back with concealer and a picture of Jane McDonald” #ImACeleb.”
Another penned: “Petition for ITV to fly Jane McDonald over to Australia to meet Adele at the end of the bridge when she leaves #ImACeleb.”
A tweet from Nadine Coyle’s Twitter account also read: “Concealer and a picture of Jane McDonald. What more could you need in the jungle?”
Today, Adele’s partner Kate Holderness took to Twitter to explain the reason behind the star’s choice.
She wrote: “I can clear this up. All the campmates have to have different luxury items, they’re not allowed to double up on anything.
“So Adele’s first choice of a family photo was already taken which she didn’t mind because she knew there’d be campmates who’d love a pic of their children in there with them.”
“It’s a bit of a long running feature on Adele’s show, when they’re having a bit of a slump and feeling down a listener will request ‘a bit of Jane’ to get them through the day.”
She concluded: “I do have to say that most of her decisions are made at 2am when she gets up for her show, most things make perfect sense as that time.”
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for ITV for comment.
Following Adele’s admission on the show, former Loose Women star Jane shared her thoughts on This Morning.
Speaking to presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, she said: “I’m absolutely gobsmacked!
“I was just like… my phone started going ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!
“I was sat, because I’ve been sitting here filming in Manchester.
“I just sat on the edge of the bed in my underwear, and watched it on Plus One, and just thought, ‘Oh my goodness me!’ I could not believe it.”
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
