Adam Sandler is moving from Murder Mystery to Halloween hijinx, as sources tell Collider that he’s set to star in the Netflix movie Hubie Halloween, which he’ll also produce via his Happy Madison banner. A representative for the streaming service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Frequent Sandler collaborator Steven Brill is set to direct the creepy comedy from a script that Sandler co-wrote with Tim Herlihy (The Wedding Singer). Brill is slated to start shooting Hubie Halloween in July in Boston. The director goes way back with Sandler, having directed his theatrical features Little Nicky and Mr. Deeds, as well as his more recent Netflix movies The Do-Over and Sandy Wexler.

According to Brandon Katz at The Observer, where the news first broke, the story will thrust the Sandman into the middle of a murder case on Halloween night in the spooky town of Salem, Massachusetts, which is only about an hour away from where Sandler actually grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire. He’ll play a deli worker named Hubie who is kind of known as the town doofus, but is given the chance to redeem himself by saving Halloween.

Sandler will soon be seen in the action-comedy Murder Mystery, in which he re-teams with his Just Go With It co-star Jennifer Aniston. That film will debut on Netflix on June 12. He’s also producing the David Spade vehicle The Wrong Missy, which also falls under Happy Madison’s Netflix deal.

Outside of Netflix, Sandler has wrapped the crime drama Uncut Gems, and while the Safdie brothers have yet to announce a composer for that A24 film, there are rumblings that Tyler, the Creator may be involved. The Saturday Night Live alum recently returned to Studio 8H to host the show for the first time since he was fired in the mid-90s, and he did a great job.

Herlihy wrote The Wedding Singer and co-wrote Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and The Waterboy with Sandler, among many other Happy Madison movies. He and Sandler are both represented by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Brill wrote The Mighty Ducks and teamed with Judd Apatow to co-write Heavy Weights, which he also directed. His non-Sandler credits include Drillbit Taylor, Without a Paddle and Walk of Shame. He’s repped by UTA and Brillstein.
