Breakfast Show presenter Berry said: “I’m like the Dr Who of radio as the only breakfast presenter at the helm of parallel universes.

“My one live show is now partnered with no fewer than eight playlists to give listeners their favourite songs, no matter what their favourite decade is or what mood they’re in.

“I’m Jumping Jack Flash in the 60s, I’m Into the Groove in the 80s. I’m on Fire in the 10s.”

Absolute Radio 10s launched at 10am today.

Country station

With a playlist featuring Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Maren Morris, Country Hits Radio hoped to tap into a surge in popularity in the UK for the Nashville sound.

Bauer Media said it had identified an “untapped national opportunity”, with a reported 8.7 million fans listening to country in the UK.

They said Country Hits Radio was designed to appeal to “modern country music lovers aged 25 to 44”.

Baylen Leonard, a Tennessee DJ who has been promoting the country cause in Britain, told at i at the time that the time was “definitely right” for a national country station.

“The stigma has gone and more and more people are ‘coming out of the country closet’,” he said.
