A vagina spa is coming to the UK (yes, really)

A quick shellac at your local nail salon, trim of your fringe at your favourite hairdresser and a pre-holiday bikini wax are probably staple fixtures in your beauty regime, right? But how do you feel about adding ‘trip to the vagina spa for a quick orgasm shot’ to your pamper checklist?

If one beauty expert is to have her way, vagina spas will become a permanent fixture for us all as she gets set to open her first offering in the UK.

Cindy Barshop, 54, is the proud founder of VSPOT Medi Spa, a vaginal spa which opened on New York’s Upper East Side two years ago – and now she’s bringing it to our doorsteps.

The former Real Housewives of New York star told The Times it was her ‘mission’ to make visiting a vaginal spa ‘as customary as a trip to a nail bar, the hairdresser’s or hygienist’.

According to the spa’s website, it boasts an all-female team of ‘medical experts in correcting issues that interfere with our quality of life and sexual satisfaction.’

Cindy’s team say they specialise in vaginal rejuvenation, lasers, tightening, urinary leakage, the orgasm shot (the o-shot), painful sex, menopause, vaginal lightening, the v-steam and more.

Cindy told Refinery 29 that she hopes to open shop near Harrods in Knightsbridge before the beginning of October.

We asked Ms Shreelata Datta, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at The Lister Hospital (part of HCA Healthcare UK), for her thoughts on the new opening. She said: “I am delighted to hear about the opening of a vaginal spa, it’s high time for vaginas to take centre stage. Having said that, it will be very interesting to see what treatments the spa will have to offer women. As long as there is substantial evidence to support both the efficacy and necessity of the treatments being performed, encouraging women to be mindful of their vaginal health, then I think it is a positive thing.

“In some cases the treatments may not be more effective than simply sitting in a trial warm bath, so it’s important for women to read and understand all the details behind the treatments before booking appointments. The last thing we would want to see is an increase in vaginal irritation or infection.

“I would recommend avoiding treatments involving internal vaginal douching or extreme heat as this may alter the natural bacterial balance in the vagina and lead to a higher chance of infection.”
