A tearful Grant Denyer gets emotional on his daughter's first day at school

It’s a moment that every parent dreams of but still dreads.

And on Tuesday, it was Grant Denyer’s turn to say goodbye to his youngest daughter, Scout, as she ran off to kindergarten for the first time on orientation day.

The 42-year-old Channel 10 presenter took to Instagram to share photos of himself looking rather tearful during the milestone moment.

Grant captioned his post: ‘There’s a tear in the eye [because] my little lunatic is finally off to school for the very first time!’ 

He beamed with pride in the accompanying photo, but also admitted that he felt a bit sorry for the school staff. 

‘She’s a tornado of a kid. Wild at heart and hard to tame but also adventurous, fun loving, brave and no one’s fool,’ he wrote.

He added: ‘She’ll challenge herself, those around her (and the school) but I can’t teach her everything. She’s got to take her first real steps on her own.’

While Scout may soon be joining her older sister, Sailor, at school, Grant hopes that things won’t change for them at home. 

‘We cuddle, kiss, laugh, wrestle, ride motorbikes and feed cows together. I hope that doesn’t change,’ he concluded.

Later on, the Game of Games host posted a heartwarming video of his youngest child, in which Scout excitedly says: ‘Big school for me!’
